Evan Hawkey

Director of Musclefix and Remedial Massage Therapist

Member of the Australian Association of Massage Therapists
Member of Sports Medicine Australia
Diploma of Health Science – Remedial Therapy

Evan founded Musclefix in 2003 as a mobile massage service after completing a two year diploma in Remedial Therapy at the Melbourne College of Natural Medicine. In the same year, he joined Narre Warren Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic as the primary remedial massage therapist. He gained great insight into the treatment of many conditions and injuries over his four years at that clinic and developed his assessment and massage skills.

Evan’s massage is a blend of firm but broad pressure to get right into muscles without making you jump off the table! He treats all of Musclefix’s sponsored athletes and competitors and has helped bring them to success.

Evan is an avid windsurfing enthusiast and can be found at the local beaches whenever the wind is up.

Joel completed his Advanced Diploma in Sports Therapy at The Australian College of Sports Therapy where he gained skills in assessing, treating and managing pain associated with musculoskeletal conditions, which primarily effect movement and mobility.

Joel has been involved in sports for the majority of his life, having played basketball for the Morning Breakers Youth League team and football for the Mt Eliza Red Legs. Joel is currently playing football for the Red Legs in the Mornington Peninsula Netball Football League. Through Joel’s personal experiences with sport, combined with his time spent at ACST he has developed a strong passion for turning dysfunctional movement patterns into functional ones. Joel also has a keen interest in the correction, prevention, rehabilitation and management of sports related injuries, including ankle, knee, back and shoulder pain.

Joel uses movements from the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) along with postural assessment to help find the cause of your dysfunction and discomfort. Joel’s treatments include a range of modalities involving therapeutic, deep tissue and myofascial release, positional and activerelease, tripper point therapy, Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) and joint mobilisation. A combination of both manual and non-manual movement based corrections are also used in Joel’s treatments to enable you to return to a greater level of function and performance.
